confirm hydraulic cylinder type??

Details:

The photo shows a seperate hydraulic ram and pump
arrangement with gauge,but the description indicates a bottle jack type, which is correct ???

There is an internal spring that returns the cylinder to its "home" position after the pressure is released with a screw valve (like on all bottle jacks). The spring on the one I have does not return it all the way home, and I some times have to assist it by pushing up on it with my hand for the last inch or two. It always moves far enough away from the pressed work piece to remove the piece.

How do you add hydraulic oil?

Details:

I left the release valve open too far and lost some oil. Now the cylinder won't extend very far or build pressure.

Answers

With all the pressure released from the cylinder and with the handle in the down position remove the cap and fill to top with hydraulic jack oil (purchased locally from hardware store). Fasten cap back on making sure that the o-ring is in place and you are complete.

Shop Press This is a great product for the money. I've used this in the automotive field and for equipment repair with great success. So much so, I have purchased this same press for my last two companies. The supervisors have always been please to how well they worked without the high cost. April 23, 2013

mechanic/shop owner delivery to the store was quick, the assembly was easy, and it is user frendly, the gage helps you to know just where you are at with the preasure, and having the pump on the side vs the old bottle jack makes opeating easier. July 13, 2009

Great value I purchased this for my garage and am very happy with the unit. It was easy to assemble and performs well. I lilke having the pump on the side as oppsed to other presses that use the bottle jack on top. The gauge is really a nice feature too. For the price you cant beat it. November 22, 2008
