Number One Contributor

They're made of a composite material, so I worry that kind of heat will weaken it over time. We use them next to our heat presses (and put hot parts on them) all the time, but it's for a few seconds at a time. I haven't had any problems but I fear prolonged exposure would be a different story.

Useable space inside top tray is just under 24.5 X 36, measured at the bottom, sidewalls have a bit of a flair to them so a little over same dimensions at the top. Bottom and second shelfs are restricted down an additional 1/2 inch overall due to assembly fingers cast onto side walls at the corners.

How long should this cart last?

Details:

I'm wanting this cart for household use (getting things out of the car or putting things into the car) and am wondering how durable this cart is. So, that's why I asked how long I can expect this cart to last me. Not wanting to get a cart that I have to replace in a couple of years.

This cart is very durable and designed to last many years. Because of the many different environments it is used in, we do not have a specific lifespan rating. If used in light duty applications described above, it should last a long time.

Northern Industrial Structural Foam Service Cart - 500-Lb. Capacity 4.8 5 28 28

We have 10 of these.. great units I have 10 of these in our warehouse now. The order pickers use them for efficiency. They're great. Good rolling wheels, solid construction, lots of room. The only complain, long term, is that we didn't buy them when they were on sale. I'm going to have to buy 4 more as we expand operation and I'll definitely be using these. April 25, 2013

Caregiver's Little Helper I absolutely love my cart. I purchased this cart simply to move things (purchases, etc.) from the car to the house, etc. Since some of the things I have to move from the car to the house/house to the car are heavy I got this cart to make my life easier. This cart (for me, at least) is a "God Send" when it comes to moving things from the car to the house. My only problem with the cart is the fixed wheels make it rather cumbersome to turn sharp corners which I have to do to get the cart down/up my ramp. But with that said, Northern Tool has come to my rescue because I can get swivel wheels to replace the fixed wheels. Yippee! For me, replacing the fixed wheels with swivel wheels should correct my cornering problem. Since I'm not a DIYer and put things together only when necessary, it did take me longer to put it together than those who do that type of thing all the time. I had relatively little difficulty putting it together though. I would highly recommend this cart and already have. December 19, 2012

Fragile wheels We have multiple carts for our warehouse. We have Rubbermaid carts that have been well used for 6 years still working great. I bought this cart 10 months ago due to price. Mistake. The rubber on all 4 wheels is peeling off. Note that we do run this outside once in a while, so I think it was the asphalt that ruined it, but again none of my other carts have done this. If you only plan on using this on carpet or nice smooth floors that may be OK, but no rough stuff. October 25, 2012

Awesome Cart This Cart is all that I was looking for. It is so much more strudy then the metal ones. I get so frustrated with the metal carts as they in time just loose there strenghth and begin to lean and can not take any weight. This item is very strong and durrable. It is well worth the money. Serves so many purposes. The height is perfect and the larger wheels make it easy to traverse floor transistions ect. I liked it so much I bought another one. May 8, 2012

Very useful cart The cart was very easy to assemble. Very solid and handy. I use it for my blast cabinet. I store the vacuum and containers of blast media on bottom shelf. Plenty of room on top shelf for extra parts. Wish that all 4 wheels were swivel. That's the only negative I have seen on this cart. May 7, 2012

Service Cart We purchased this cart to use in the office. I ship and receive numerous materials. This cart has been such a huge help. It allows me to move boxes to and from our storage area without worry. The cart itself works very smooth. It was extremely easy to assemble and I'm so glad we purchased it. Great tool cart The cart was easily put together in about 20 min. It is large enough to easily carry all the tools needed on a daily basis to install cabinets and millwork in a commercial construction site. I like the 5 inch wheels, they easily roll over extension cords and small debris. No problem with the weight of all the tools, very ruggid cart. It's also light enough to load easily into the truck.
