"Instructions say it could take months to desulphate a car sized battery. Since my batteries typically last about 6 years anyway, how is a person supposed to know if this thing truly works in keeping a battery desulphated? I have no doubt it works to maintain a full charge without overcharging. I've been using it for a year on a battery in a car driven only about once a month and the battery is always charged with no more than normal evaporation of electrolyte."

"Went through 4 batteries in 4 year's on car which is used only seasonaly in Florida winters before using battery minder. Hot summer is torture on battery and since I started using battery minder for last 3 year's have not had any problem. (Cars today have lots of power drains running even when parked or stored as long as battery is hooked up)
Maintaining battery has also eliminated resetting radio and other codes."

"This is the battery maintainer charger we have all been waiting for! Before you use it the battery has to be charged to over 11 volts, then hook up the charger and it will gradually bring the battery to full charge and then will automatically switch to de-sulfate mode which is identified by the blinking light. the charger is designed to be left on indefinitely or until you use the battery.The de-sulfating mode gradually removes sulfates from the plates improving the capacity of the battery! One added plus of the charger is it works on any type 12 volt battery! It will never overcharge but will bring the battery to it's best possible condition! I bought two of them! They also have that two pin trailer type connector which allows you to plug in different type connection leads! I noticed it does stay a little warm during use but doesn't seem to be a problem. I bought two of them!"

"I put this desulphator on my garden tractor battery that would not hold a charge, and lo and behold, after approximately 2 months on this tender it holds a charge well. I was to build a similar desulphator from a kit but for the price of this unit it was not worth the effort. I'm happy with the results of this product."

"I really like this charger...I now own 5! Keeps batteries charged without overchargering. I am seeing a noticable improvement in battery life. I use it on car, boat, ATV, tractor, mower, sprayer, sonwmobile...batteries of various sizes. Keep in mind if the battery is REALLY dead, it needs to be partially charged by another means before the BatteryMinder will work. This is NOT unique to this product...it is true for other smart chargers as well. My experience is the battery can be really run down, just not dead. If the battery voltage is anywhere near normal, reguardless of it's ability to supply useable current, the BatteryMinder works fine."

"I have tried this on a couple of cars and it seems to work as advertised. If you don't read the directions after its charged you see a light flashing, that means its in maintain mode. This is counter-intuitive, most chargers flash when charging or when the battery has a problem. Besides that issue, it does seem to work. The fact the powersupply is built into the plug may be an issue for fitting these on outlets. My biggest gripe is that the hardwire battery lead is too short and I have to open the hood to disconnect it, or buy a separate lead like 25' long just to get a foot or so extra, which is a cheap design. Give us enough cable to work!

The de-sulphication process seems like a good idea, but I have no way of checking if it really is doing anything or not."

"I use this charger on the starting and deep cycle batteries on my boat. These batteries are three years old and are still charging great. I occasionally switch the charger to the other battery so they both can take advantage of the desulphation feature. Wish they had a marine/boat version."

I received everything shown in the ad. It was ready to plug in and included allegator clips to hook up to the battery. It also included a cable with bare pigtail wires for if you hook it up permanently to your car's electrical system.

It will not harm your ECM or TCM. Your battery is isolated from external power sources on computer controlled engines and transmissions.

Special Instructions for selecting AGM type?

Battery-minder's model 24041 has a switch setting for AGM, how does this model adjust for the higher voltage AGM batteries require?

Answers

While AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries usually test at slightly higher voltage there is not a need a need to adjust charging voltage. The AGM setting on the charger has to do with the desulphation cycle not the voltage.
