Narrow stapler

I was looking for a pneunmatic stapler at a local home store and they had only narrow staple guns. Can this stapler use wider staples?

The Surebonder 9600 Pneumatic Stapler is designed to use narrow crown (3/8") heavy-duty
wire staples in 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2", 17/32" and 9/16" leg lengths. For best results, use
Surebonder #4 Heavy-Duty Staples (same as Arrow T50 or Stanley TRA700 Series Staples).

The Surebonder Pneumatic Staple Gun is an absolutely terrific tool. After buying it, I'd never be without one again.
It uses the Standard Arrow T-50 Staples. I'm not sure what you mean by "wider". The distance between the staple legs is approximately 1/2", and the length of the legs can vary based on the size of the T-50 Staple that you purchase.
I have used it for upholstery work, assembly jobs, and a wide variety of other tasks. One of the great benefits is that the staple will penetrate into wood, without having the staple legs bend, which often times happens using a standard staple gun.

Are staples for this available in any hdw store?

Details:

We want to use this to stretch art canvas around stretcher bars - the term "fine wire" has me concerned. Are these
"regular" type staples that you use for say, a Power Shot
stapler? It's time to upgrade to a pneumatic model and
we're searching for the right one.

It takes the same staples as your standard hand held staple gun. I always buy the staples at the standard hardware store. I think it would be a good option. I also use it for stretching muslin for soft covered theatre flats.

I've done artwork in the past, and stretched canvas, and this tool is PERFECT for the job. It uses standard Arrow Brand T-50 Staples, just like your Power Hand Stapler would use. Any hardware store carries the Arrow T-50. Plus you can get staples in any length leg that is needed for the task.

Its a great tool, you won't be disappointed.

The tool uses a Standard Arrow Brand T-50 Staple. The T-50 Staple measures 1/2 inch wide, and comes in various leg lengths and configurations.

I have used this stapler for attaching upholstery to a wood base, and other various uses that would use small brads or carpet tacks etc. Its a great tool, easy to use, and once you use it, you wonder how you ever got along without it.

T50 type staples you would find that would fit in most handheld staple guns. Generally, this gun would be great to stretch fabric, hang up plastic on wood, hang insulation, etc. I used mine to upholster about 7 chairs.

The Surebonder Pneumatic Staple Gun does not come with staples. The gun will handle various size staples that can be found locally at any hardware store or home center. This gun would work very well for upholstery work.

Staples do not come with the gun. However, it uses standard Arrow Brand T-50 staples which are available everywhere.
I have used this gun doing upholstery work, and it works great, even when dealing with harder woods.

Easy to use and load I restore furniture as a hobby and bought this stapler to use instead of a traditional manual stapler. When reupholstering a chair it took the strain of a repetive job. No problems with loading or use and the best part is it uses staples I already have. August 14, 2012

Currently very dissapointed in Surebonder 9600 I purchased this Surebonder 9600 stapler to recover my wifes scooter seat and my Goldwing seat. Based on the positive reviews I expected a tool that would do the job very nicely and at a great price. I took my seat apart, connected the stapler to my air supply and .................. no joy, nothing. I followed the instructions and put in a few drops of oil and 1/4" T-50 staples prior to connecting air and all I got was hissing but no stapling. I have put in a call to FPC Corp. as they requested on the back of the manual so I will see if they can help me correct whatever the issue is. If I can get the stapler to work I will repost with an update. May 22, 2012

Great value Because of the price I thought I would take a chance and try this to install ceiling tiles while remodeling one room. Very pleased with the quality and ease of use. What a surprise! After checking local tool suppliers and scouring the internet, I happened upon Northern T&E. My budget was about $100.00 -$150.00 I read through ALL of the reviews on the Surebonder staple gun and then ordered it. The reviews were great, but I wasn't holding my breath. For such a great price I figured there had to be something that wouldn't live up to the jobs I had planned to put it through. It arrived within the estimated time and upon inspecting it I was truly surprised by the quality!! I have worked mainly with industrial strength staple guns during my upholstery career, which almost never fail to operate. This little gun is much more than I expected for the price. It handled the re-upholstery of a leather couch and dining room chairs without ANY problems. I highly recommend this gun to anyone that has to staple more than paper together!!! October 13, 2011

The Best for the money!! This unit works very well and is easy to handle. Made short work of installing insulation in my work shop. A must tool for the shop!! Wish it had an adjustable depth control, but can adjust the PSI to some degree to get around this, so not a big deal. Northern Tool & Equipment backs their products so buy with confidence. Great little stapler I used this little stapler on some chairs I was recovering and it did a fantastic job. It only jammed once in over 3000 staples. Easy to load, light, and just a great little tool to keep around for many types of jobs. I highly recommend this little stapler. Great Performance at a Low Price! I ordered the Surebonder Pneumatic Staple Gun, Model 9600 because my wife was tackling a small upholstery job and I didn't really want to do a lot of stapling with a manual stapler.....and what an opportunity to add a pneumatic stapler to my tool collection! Other posted reviews persuaded me to order this very low priced stapler, but I did wonder how well this tool would work. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it performed. I used it to attach fabric to a wooden bench frame. I found the stapler easy to use and it never jammed or mis-fired. For occasional use, I have no reservation in recommending the Surebonder Pneumatic Staple Gun, Model 9600. As with other past purchases, Northern Tool provided excellent service and fast shipment.
