Great all around metal bandsaw
I have owned this saw for many years and it has never failed me. I have cut everything from copper to steel and even some plastic. It is very stable and works well even in an unattended mode; you just have to make sure that the material is clamped properly and it will do the rest and naturally shut itself off after the cut if the metal switch tab is bent correctly to make contact with the power switch.
Al in all this Jet band saw is a solid machine and I recommend it without reservation. It is also reasonably portable for taking to jobs for I used this in my shop for production jobs as well as out in the field for larger jobs.

For the money, I think I dun good
Just picked mine up this evening and put it together. Not the clearest instructions in the world but we were able to work through the missing information by using a little common sense. I did not check blade guide alignment as one reviewer suggested, but may at a later day.One thing I did have to adjust was belt pulley alignment. As it came, the motor was adjusted out too far to even begin to get the belt on. A quick check of the sheaves also indicated they were skewed. Once the motor was moved forward a bit, I was able to get the belt on and final adjustments made.
I had two pieces of scrap 2x2x3/16" angle I had welded together into a "T" so decided to try it out on that. Cut through it with no issues, altho' I did have to play with the bow stop and stop switch adjustments to get it to cut all the way through and shut off properly.
I have a bunch of 2x2x3/16" pieces of angle iron to cut in the next couple of days, so the jury is still out on how well it works, and holds up.

Still new
I've only recently bought this band saw so can't speak to it's reliability and other long term issues but I do have a few tips for other new users. Be careful when tightening the leg attachment hardware. I stripped out one of the included bolts without really trying and He-Man I ain't.
The manual reads that the blade will come fully adjusted. Don't believe it. There are several different blade adjustments. Check them all yourself before using. When it's all put together you will have some pieces left over. Don't worry. You're supposed to.
Pros: I was surprised how quick and quietly it cut through a piece of angle iron the first time I used it.
From my use so far it seems to have plenty of power.
Cons: I removed one star because of hassle required to attach the vertical work table every time you want to use it in the upright position. There should be an easier method to attach it.
It's heavy but this is my first band saw so that might be normal.
The level of the horizontal cut table is lower than any of my store bought sawhorses or work stands. It seems to be an odd height. I'll either have to buy adjustable roller stands or fab something to hold material while it's being cut.
The assembly instructions in the manual need to be more detailed.

jet band saw
I purchased jet band saw model 414458 for garage projects. I looked at a number of different models and prices were very close. I've had good experiance with Jet products on my regular job so went with them. So far it's handled all the cutting i needed it to do and then some, plus it's small enough to keep out of way when not in use.

Great little saw
This saw cuts really well and is well built. I use the same saw at work everyday in a machine shop. It works so well I decided to buy one for home. The wheels are plastic but rolls the saw with little to no effort.

Jet Bandsaw
This is an awesome little saw, common size blades, easy to replace, auto shut off. Very good for the home shop.

The Jet Bandsaw performers great
My jet bandsaw cuts all mateials that I needed to cut. 3/8" angle iron, 1/4" thick 3" steel pipe and rectangler tubing. I got extremely square cuts with automatic saw cutoff capability allowing me to take on other tasks while the saw was cutting.
The only problem I encountered was a missing vertical plate, which Northern Tool & Equipment solved for me by having Jet ship one out to me. I quickly learned how to change the saw blade and to adjust the blade cutting speed. I found it helpful to double check the saw blade alignment bearings to make sure the two sets of three bearings were not to tight against the cutting blade when I changed the saw blade.
I would highly recomment the Jet Bandsaw for any home use and commercial use within the saw specifications limites. eg. size of material to cut. All saw components are of very good grade except for the stand roller wheels, which are plastic. I'd like to see these be hard rubber. (these can be easily replaced)

best for the price
Jet is an established name and I wasn't prepared to break new experiences on an unknown. With this prolonged drought and having to supplement feed the cattle year round, money was tight. This had to be a good choice.
The Jet bandsaw was very easy to assemble and was quickly put to work. I had been using a chop saw on rebar used as pins for reinforcement fencing H's. The bandsaw made quick work slicing 3/4" rebar and far less noisey. I was even eager to find another project for my new Jet. The new fence is 7'; but the only gates I could find in 5 counties are 4-5' feet high. My guess was the new Brahmas would be gate crashing to get to the garden, orchard, etc.. A cutting torch is a mighty handy necessity; however trimming to length a stack of 2 1/2" pipe was made for a bandsaw. Clean cuts are a joy to weld.
This has proven a good purchase so far. The Jet bandsaw makes for quick work, promotes a more quiet environment, it's compact, modestly priced, and saves the oxygen acetylene gases for other projects.
