How much airflow and pressure is needed to make this tool work?

Details:

I have a small 4 gal air compressor that will supply 3.7 cfm at 40 psi and 2.6 cfm at 90 psi. Is this enough to run the tool?

Answers

The Northern Industrial Air Cutoff Tool requires a minimum of 5.5 CFM at 90 psi to operate. Your 2.6 CFM compressor would be too small.

Inexpensive cutoff tool I'm very happy to have this tool in my cabinet. I've used it to cut through 1/4 brass and 1/8 steel. Does need quite a bit of air behind it, but my 25 gallon compressor did well with it. August 13, 2012

Decent tool for the money It's a very inexpensive cutoff tool, but you need a good amount of air behind it, so have a decent size compressor hooked up. Just don't expect an industrial strength tool. June 13, 2011

Air Cutoff Tool This was a excellent addition to my air tools. Also imprised with the guard, I've always taken those off my cutoff tool. Not going to this time it looks so good and functions. It's not the cheap plastic cover I'm used to. March 16, 2009

It Made the Cut I purchased this saw two weeks ago and have used it more times than I can count. It has no problem slicing through exhaust pipe and 1/8 in. steel like butter. Just another great product from Northern Tool. I also recommend their 1/2 drive impact wrench (the chrome one with 235 ft. lbs. torque) and their 21 gallon vertical air compressor. They've both been running for a good while with no sight of stopping! March 11, 2009

Excellent Tool Got this last Christmas and it works fantastic. I've used it alot on different metal types and it has all the power you will need. At such a low price you need to get one of these handy tools if you own an air compressor. I have not picked up my hacksaw since getting this tool. April 14, 2008

Great tool, great price For years, I used hack saws and drills to cut off muffler clamps. This tool saves HOURS of time and frustration. I even used it to change my U joints. Inside the home, it was used to cut into a plaster wall to install an air vent. Very versatile! Worth every penny. October 29, 2007
