Great product for the price
For the price, this air hammer is hard to beat. Especially for a home tinkerer who only needs something like this occasionally. I do a modest amount of steel work in my home shop, and I bought this to replace an old "name brand" version that i have misused for years and was finally quit on me. I miss it not at all, this product is just as well made and does the job just as well.

air hammer
For the price its a great bargain for home use. Cleaning brick to re-do a porch saves time & money working on cars, cleaning up mortar joints for tuck pointing, you can't go wrong. Its the next best tool to an angle grinder

Good for the price
I used the air hammer a few times before it stopped working. Now all it does is blow air through it. At the price, it is to be expected, but still want the tool to work when I need it and was let down by this one.

Handles Abuse
We use these hammers on an almost daily basis. They perform and last as well or better than the more expensive name brand tools.
We currently have 3 in use, all with different chisels or needle attachments to avoid changing during a job.
Its heavy use, dirty jobs and I've never had one fail that I can remember. Wear out yes, fail no!
They get used on hardened cement and concrete and keep on going, I've got one that's at least 6 years old now.
Granted the springs break and sometimes the barrel will have to be tightened, but for the money you can't go wrong.

Beware the chisel size
This air hammer does not use standard (easy to find) .401" chisels, it uses 3/8" (.375") chisels. That means you'll likely have a hard time finding replacement chisels and it eliminates the possibility of you ever using specialty chisels with it (such as a hammer-head or a pickle fork).

Small but Good
Was surprised by the small size but it was a good value for the money. First try was a great success and I will use it often.
Don't expect a big tool, but don't waste your money on anything bigger if you don't need to.

A tool more stubborn than I am - rare!
Another reviewer has already addressed the one minor annoyance I found with this tool; that being the tendency of the return spring to work loose after prolonged use. But that's a pretty small annoyance considering. I have brutally abused this tool, using it for things it was NEVER intended to do and it keeps hammering for a lot longer than I can. I actually cut (completely) through a concrete footing (in four places) using this hammer alternating with a concrete chisel and 4 lb hammer. Let me hasten to point out that this is NOT the intended use of this tool. But if it will stand up to this kind of abuse, it should handle your exhaust pipes, body work, riveting and what have you easily. Keep it oiled and reasonably clean and it'll probably outlast air hammers costing several times the money.
You can spend more, and if you make your living with an air hammer, you probably will. But for someone who only needs an air hammer on occasion, you can't beat this combination of price and quality.

Abused and still works wonders!
I've used my Northern Industrial air chisel/hammer for breaking apart cinder blocks, removing grout, and even removing an exhaust pipe. I've even used it to "vibrate" nuts and bolts to break some of the rust off of them with great results.
It's been dropped from high places and only suffered minor scratches.
One note though, the spring holder has a tendency to vibrate and loosen after continuous usage which is irritating because it slows down progress.

Air Chisel
Very good tool. Works well in my home workshop and takes a fair beating. Great buy for the money. I would put this up against any of the department store models.
