"Gave this hood a go the day I received it. This is the first auto darkening hood I have owned. I was impressed with the darkening responce time and the associated adjustment levels. What a treat it was to be fully protected while knowing exactly where your rod will be when the lights go out. No more flipping the hood down and guessing where your bead will start. Striking an arc was much more predictable as well, at least for me. I do not weld for a living, however I do weld fairly often, and this hood helps me do a cleaner weld (less cleanup) with less fatigue. I used a auto darkening hood where I work that cost almost twice as much. It was what sold me on the auto darkening technology, but this Hobart hood performs just as well for a lot less money."

"I am learning welding and as such am not very experienced at it yet. The act of flipping down the welding helmet on a non auto darkening helmet makes it hard to hold the tool and the work in the right orientation as it's easy to shift your hands . Now, I suspect that an experienced welder could manage this more easily, but if you are just learning, the extra convenience of being able to see your work before starting welding is a huge plus. I suspect also that an experienced welder would find this an easier way of doing complex welds, e.g. overhead or in odd positions.

This particular helmet is comfortable and activates quickly."

"After doing quite a bit of research on auto darkening welding helmets, I concluded that this was the best bang for the buck. I was not disappointed. It works as advertised, every time. "I really Like this Welding Helmet "hood" it works great I can fine tune the speed and the degree of darkness this is very important to me I have used hoods that didn't have these features and they just were not dark enough for me I like the fact that you can add shade before you strike the ark for working in bright light this is very helpfull. and being able to adjust the speed and the darkness of the shade is very nice to have this is not a cheap-oh welding hood."

Good Helmet. BUT...,

"I have used mine for the last several months. Went with a plain Black, instead of 1 of the flashier, more expensive models. The only complaint I have about it is the CHEAP head Gear that Hobart puts with it. If you are able to put it on and not fool with adjustment you probably wont have an issue. I however am not that lucky. That is the only problem I have with it. Would and do recommend it to anyone, with this 1 caveat..."
