Reese Universal Coupler Lock, Model# UTL100
Lock won't release
I've tried for three days to get the lock of the tongue of the trailer. I want to go fishing, yesterday, today and tomorrow. I've tried wd40. I've tried praying. I've tried other keys. NOTHING works. The key won't turn. I've never seen such a lock that would just stop working. What's up with that? Thank you for your time. Karen

not great protection
2 yrs ago. i had used this to prevent someone driving off with my dual axle 20 ft trailer. while i had it parked in my driveway for the whole winter. someone had hack sawed
the top piece off and was able to drive away with my big trailer.. so my advice to you people is that if your not trying to lock up an expensive trailer from possible robbers get this. it works great for when someone doesnt tamper with it. so now i bought 2 big wheel chock locks. for both a front trailer and for the opposite wheels on my trailer. alot better safer peace of mind

Overall I am very pleased with the lock, easy to use and see, only small complaint is wish it would fit more snuggly

Good So Far
Well the trailer hasn't been stollen yet. It works good as long as it is put on snug. It is impackt resistant. Nice product.

The lock does not fit very well on my 2 5/16 cargo trailer. It is kinda tricky to get it locked so that it won't move around while locked on the trailer. I have had the lock on it for about 6 months outside and it is rusting already.

my trailer was stolen. somhow they got the lock off. could not be cut, but they twisted it around. get something better.

Trailer Tongue Lock
Ordinary hitch locks usually depend upon a padlock thru a sheet metal tongue and dovetail device, which is easilly defeated; this goes a different route, making theft highly unlikely. Comes assembled ... just break open the packaging and use it immeadiately. Quality of fit and finish is very good. Directions really aren't required, since application is so intuitive; look at it and you know how to use it!

1.5 years and counting
I've used this on my boat trailer for over a hear and a half with success, but the hoop is showing some signs of rust. The trailer is parked outside all the time. When I tow, I bring this along, just in case I have to drop the trailer for some unknown reason. The bright yellow color is a good deterrant. I disagree with the review that stated the lock could be picked with a nail file. I tried a dozen times with no success. No lock will stop every theif, but this is a good tool in the arsenal. Keep the lock oiled.
