  1. What is the size and type of drain fitting?

    Some tanks auxiliary fuel tanks have 3/8" FTP, but someplace I saw a larger size for this kit.

    1. This has a 3/8" male pipe thread shut off valve.

    2. The 3/8 " fuel will actual stay ahead of my fuel usage and then some. Even when my Ram Diesel is workin hard in the Mnt's getting about 8 to ten miles per gallon, I just leave the fill valve on till it's gettin near full and then pull over and shut it off. When my gauge is down about 1/4 to 1/8 th I pull over and flip on the valve and I can usually drive about 600 plus miles before I have a near full tank and then I pull over and shut it off or pull into a truck stop to fill it back up and shut the valve off at the same time. No real need for a bigger fuel line in my world.

    3. I have 2015 GMC Sierra 3500HD. Got the 60 gal aux transfer tank in bed. Fit perfect. 3/8 inch fittings and hose.

  2. How does this pump work, ie computor, and how does it not overflow?

    1. Its a float valve. not computer to mess anything up. Just gravity flows from the aux tank to the trucks tank till the float shuts the flow off.

    2. It is just a gravity feed system. The hose splices into the truck's main fuel fill hose. The splice is oriented up, and has a small ball float that shuts off the fuel when the fuel level reaches that point. It basically shuts off at the same fill level as the fuel nozzle at the gas station. Your truck will stay perpetually full until the auxiliary tank is empty.

    3. The RDS Diesel Install Kit is gravity fed and does not have a pump. This kit will have a rollover valve that will prevent overfilling.

  3. How do you hook this up to the steal line .

    Its a dodge 2011 3500 dully crew cab and as far as i can see the the line you use to fill the truck is a steal line

    1. It would only be a steel line (actually it's stainless steel) to under the truck box. from there its usually rubber.

    2. The kit will be installed in the factory fill neck between the fuel door/cap and the factory tank. You will have to cut the factory fuel fill neck and remove enough of it to make room for the "T", thus allowing the auxiliary tank to gravity feed the factory tank.

    3. There are no instructions for mounting in steel line. May I suggest contacting Dodge for more information.

    1. The only difficult part is making the first cut in your truck's fuel line.

  5. Install Kit Fitment

    Will this install kit work on a 2015 Ford F250 Diesel. This truck uses the DEF, and both fill spouts are in the same opening on the outside of the truck. Will I have to take the filler loose and pull it out of the truck to mount it, or can I just cut the hose and install while in the truck.

    1. Yes, DEF inlet hose is a separate issue all together, although they run behind the same fuel lid, there is plenty room for this kit (inlet tube) in the fuel inlet tube on your ford. You will need to take the three 8mm head screws out to give you some room to maneuver filler hose.

    2. This item will work on a 2015 Ford F250 diesel truck. You will need to cut the hose to install.

  6. What are the two small hose pieces for?

    I have read every review and Q&A I could find but no one mentions the two pieces of large hose that comes with the kit. What are they for (tapered for some applications?) and do they apply to a 2014 F-350? Thanks

    1. On my installation I only used one of the short sections of fuel filler hose. My guess is that the second piece allows for the kit to be more universal for applications that require attaching to hard filler neck piping on both sides?

  8. vertical install of manual shut off valve

    I noticed an answer that said to install the manual shut off valve vertically, it appears to thread into the outlet of the tank is that ok to be horizontal?

    1. It is fine installed horizontal, mine is. However out of my 37 gal aux tank I only get 32-33 gal. Unless I park facing downhill and a leaning a little left, forcing the remainder fuel to the valve corner.

    1. My fill pipe measure 1.5inches just as the diesel models. Everything fit perfectly.

    2. The install kit is intended to be used with diesel fuel only. The fill line required for this kit is 1-1/2".

  10. Can I still put fuel into the factory tank using the factory fill tube on the truck side ?

    I may not want to always use the aux tank fill.

    1. Certainly. It doesn't alter the original configuration at all. You just shorten the connecting tube a little to fit it inline with fuel inlet.
