Northern Industrial 2-Way Lockable Livestock Gate Latch
Best deal I could find...
I searched extensively online for this product - at the end of the day Northern Tool had the best overall price. Shipping was quick and the items showed up without damage. I operate a ranch raising livestock and have 30+ gates. These gate latches are the way to go - easy to open with one hand and can open in either direction. If these are what you need, your search is over.

I put this on 4 stock gates and it has been working great this winter so far no complaints what so ever. This is also better than the competition that is blue because this one takes a pad lock and its cheaper.

2-way lockable livestock gate latch
We use the latch on a livestock gate which is in our back yard and leads to our large car shop from our house. The gate is utilized daily and was originally locked by using a chain. The 2-way lockable gate latch allows for a much quicker and easier process of locking the gate. I can also easily open the gate with one hand if I am carrying something with the other hand. The latch was very easy to attach to the gate. A great 2-way lockable gate latch.

This is a great product for a great price. Installation was easy and I love being able to open the gate now in either direction. I love the heavy gauge metal and the tough red finish. The "hold up" feature has kept the gate from sagging and I now plan to buy two more for my other gates.

Clever, Functional Latch
These latches were recommended by a neighbor, and he installed them for me. The design is amazing, allowing the gate to swing either in or out at my discretion, and the latches provide excellent security. My only complaint is that the gate posts must be perfectly stable and not subject to movement or settling. Since my fencing is relatively new, my gates have had to be readjusted several times in the year I've had these latches on. If the gates go a few inches out of alignment, the latches are useless. So I keep chains on all the gates as well, just in case. But overall, at this price, these latches are an excellent deal!

I have several of these gate latches. I use them for gates that form stalls and also entrances to pastures. The self locking feature is super handy when your hands are busy holding horses and you can just push the gate closed and it locks. I've also found that the latch being down between the gate and pole makes it nearly impossible for my mouthy horses to get ahold of the latch to pull up and unlock the gate. (I say nearly just incase Houdini figures it out today!)

I've had this latch on a 12' gate for a couple of years now. It works great.. When the gate is latched it not only latches it but it also holds up on so it helps keep the gate from sagging. Allows the gate to swing either in the field or out. which helps if you have animals that like to make a bee line for an opening.
The only con I could say would be the paint faded pretty fast to chalkey red almost a dull pink color.. Overall though its the best livestock gate latch I've seen..

Fantastic gate latches
When we first got these latches I wasn't sure, but Now I know they are great! I'm ordering 6 more latches. The best way to get in the lot, keeping the cows in, and keeping the cow and calves separated when weaning.

heavy duty latch
Made of heavy gauge steel, with thick powder coat paint. I think it will last for many many years. They were half the cost of our local supplier.

I bought three of these latches for the driveway gate and other livestock gates on the property. On two out of the three so far, I had to take a hammer and realign the padlock slots because they hit each other instead of bypassing. I was unable to close the gate until this realignment was made. All other aspects of the latch are great. It works as advertised and is a snap to install.
