Great clutch
Bought this for my mini bike rebuild project. Ordered with the standard springs (2300rpm engagement) and ultimately bought three other varying spring sets. I chose the red springs for general use (1200rpm engagement), works great, spring changes are very simple. No special tools required.

Great Clutch
I acquired a used go-cart frame less the engine. I purchased a new engine on ebay and everything else from Norhern. This part worked flawlessly and installed in minutes.

Nice Heavy Duty Clutch
I'm giving this 5 stars - Running it on a homemade yard kart with a 6.5HP engine ( haven't used long term yet so i can't positively vouch for durability yet) This is not my first clutch - it seems very heavy duty compared to others i have used. Runs very well and strongly!
- i'm surprised by the negative reviews. 1 thing: a reviewer above was angry that it failed when only being run 3/4 speed - you need to know that "partial throttle" is bad for any centrifugal clutch! If the engine is not spinning fast enough the clutch will slip, get too hot and fail.
Be sure you read the directions for use and especially OILING! You can't just squirt oil into the thing! If you oil the clutch surface it will ruin the clutch - only oil the bronze bushing!

Noisy grabby clutch
I put a 6.5 HP clone engine on the grandkids' minibike and fitted this clutch. Followed all the instructions about lubrication. Within minutes, it was making nasty noises - like the chain was catching on something. Took off all the chainguards, checked alignment, tension - all OK. It's the clutch. Don't know what's going on inside - maybe the shoes are sticking as they engage? The noise only happens as you accelerate - stops once the clutch is fully engaged. But it makes an awful racket getting there. I just don't like the design of this clutch, with the c-shaped return springs. Bought a Max-Torque - smooth, quiet and works great.

Durability
This clutch did not last 30 min. of light use. We ran the go-cart at 3/4 speed 1 block, stop and change drivers, drive 1 block, 3-5 times and the clutch seized up.

Sprocket
The sprocket I ordered from Northern was exactly what I needed. I searched the internet for the right part until I found this site. It was very helpful in helping me pick just the right part.

Hilliard Clutch
Very nice heavy duty unit. Bit larger than other units so watch for clearance issues. Bearing design looks to be much more robust than other types. Also needs bolt in crankshaft to hold it on. So far it has preformed excellent. Bit heavy.

Ok clutch
I bought this clutch and it work great while it lasted but that was not very long. I have it on my 6.5 hp motor that is on my go-kart One day is started to rattle so I took it apart and I found that the key on the inside was sheared off, but that is the only problem I have found Other wise it is great.

Very good product!
Carefully look at the mounting instructions and follow the guidelines for end play. This has built in keys so pretty much its slide it on, put on a bolt and washer, check end play and you're good to go. No set screw to come loose. The most noticeable thing to me was the first test drive with it in my daughters go cart was that it was absolutely silent when engaging. Most clutches will ring as the shoes slip against the drum. This is made differently than any other clutch i have installed. Awesome price and looking forward to seeing how it lasts! Keep the bushing oiled!!!
