"This welder does just about anything you could possibly need around the home and then some. I've used it on just about everything and it works great. Its smaller then the 220v units and much more portable because you can use it almost anywhere. It is also great for really thin metals, something not all the larger units can do as well. I highly recommend the unit. No disappointments here."

"I never have welded before in my life, but like so many other wish I had a welder to do repairs, so one day I pick up the Hobart 140 mig welder and in just one hour I could weld.. The controls / adjustments were ez to understand and to setup.Now if something breaks I can make the repairs myself and have some fun too.. Hobart make a excellent products."

"I am rebuilding an old Ford pickup, and this welder has taken everything I have thrown at it. I have welded in patch panels, welded on the frame, built some tools and even done some creative projects. I welded with flux core for a while before stepping up to gas. The switchover was easy and the results were fantastic. For portability, ease of use and affordability, this rig is hard to beat. I would imagine that welding larger gauge steel would be difficult with this rig because of the power needed, but that has not been a problem for me."

"This is a great little welder so far. It has performed well everytime I have used it (which is several times). I use it in combination with my generator and haul it in the bed of my Ranger so it is mobile. I have used it for farm/ranch type repairs so far and it has worked great. Set up was a breeze and have had no problems."

"This is a great little welder for working with both light gauge steel, stainless and most of all aluminum. Very simple to sit and use. And does an excellent job on home projects and repairs and even found it a blessing working in tight areas tacking heaver jobs that were hard to reach with a stick welder."

"I just took up welding for some crazy reason and didn't really know what to purchase. After alot of research and shop talk with some seasoned welders, I chose this unit. I am very please with my choice and have recently finished up with a little fabrication / welding table. It turned out pretty good for a goof-ball wanna be welder. Thanks Hobart and Northern Tools."

extremely easy to use,

"This is the first welder I have operated, purchasing after reading the great reviews here and on various on-line welding forums. This welder is extremely easy to set up and use and it exceeded my expectations while doing a major weld repair on my Kubota tractor backhoe subframe. It required some added 1/4" steel plating to reinforce the area that snapped, and I put it to the test by pulling some major boulders during land clearing and the welds held perfectly.
The low duty cycle rating was a concern, but the unit never shut down while doing some long runs.
After using for several repairs of various gauge metals just using the flux core wire, I can say without reservation that this welder is productive and produces nice welds right out of the box."

"Great welder, I've been using mine for almost 4 years building race cars and demolition derby carrs. It does great on sheet metal, and some thick metal up to 3/8. 110V is awesome, it's light weight, and with gas it makes great welds."

"I have tried out many welders. First went for the lincoln 140 and hated the way it welded. Many of the other welders are way too expensive to be worth using at home. The Hobart is a very good quality welder for the price. It compares almost identical to the Miller version. The are essentially the same welder, except the Hobart is several hundered dollars cheaper. It even uses a miller gun."
