Does the 10" of ram travel include the screw top?

I'm wondering if this jack has more lift than a typical bottle jack.

Answers

This bottle jack has an adjustable screw top that can adjust up to 2-19/20 inches. The ram also has a total travel of 10 inches. The ram travel does not include the adjustable screw top.

just measured mine and yes, that includes the screw top. its much more than you will get with single stage bottle jacks. i love mine.

Torin 2 stage Hyd. Bottle Jack-12 ton Purchased this bottle jack several years ago and have had excellent service. Has been used to lift many heavy objects from trailers to tractors . It can be put on its side and used to press objects into place as long as you have a substantial stationary footing. July 20, 2009

RV necessity Some time back, we got our 14,000 lb. fifth-wheel trailer stuck in some deep mud. As in the axles were resting on the ground. Unfortunately, we, and a friend had only single stage jacks, which did not raise the trailer far enough to be very practical. We made it, but just barely. Then we saw this jack, and could not order it fast enough. Compact. Stores in very little space. And the throw is great. Rarely need that tall a lift, but boy when we need it, we have it. A bonus is the handle structure. We do not have anything to lift that weighs 24,000 pounds. But with all that leverage, we can use the short part of the handle and really get some pumping and lifting done. Strange, isn't it, how those long handles always seem to not fit in the space where the jack has to be? And you wind up smashing your knuckles? Not so with this jack. When the short handle is appropriate, it works like a dream, and if one puts all three pieces of the handle together, you can be pumping the jack from a distrance. When new it is so tight it is hard to retract. Minor issue. November 17, 2008

12-Ton Jack This jack works excellent around my shop. I use it for everything from my tractor, to my truck, to my RV. Its compact so its easy to transport, however packs a punch when it comes to lifting power. I'd say its not the best choice for a jack to keep in your vehicle, for that I went with a smaller 2-ton jack. But this jack is the best one to keep in/around your shop for working. January 21, 2008
