Great Jack I purchased this jack a few months ago. It gets the job done. Didn't give it a 5 star because the release valve is a little tricky if you want to let the jack down slowly. But other than that, it is a great tool. Very sturdy and worth the money. May 8, 2012

Bought a few years back and still using ALOT I purchased this at Northern Tool back in 2009, and I have used it alot! I purchased it for a transmission job in a jeep. Here are some more uses: Axle realignment Drive shaft support and lowering in big trucks In Tank Fuel pumps - WITHOUT draining the fuel tank just lower it with this. Steering gear push into place and hold for boltup Removing transfer cases and lowering frame skids Bolting up frame skid plates has never been easier. The list goes on. Someone wrote that you need to be careful as the bleed off is sensitive. It is. Gentle turns only or it goes flying down. THIS IS GOOD for sensitive work like realigning parts, you can bump it down like lowering a sleeping baby if you get the hang of it. This tool is a steal for the price and it works for alot of stuff. Great tool at a great price. Purchased this one because to rent was twice the price plus driving back and forth to rental store. I did skip the useless chain in the box and used a pair of the nylon web straps that ratchet. Grab a package at Northern and it will cinch down that transmission tight so no chance of it slipping and crushing your fingers or sliding off the plate and into your lap! October 17, 2011

better than the rental I rented a transmission jack and it proved worthless. I went on line and found this jack for a very reasonable price and in stock locally. I used it to install a BMW automatic transmission and it went flawlessly. Good tool, good price! September 19, 2011

Torin Transmission Jack Changed the clutch in my Dodge (Cummins) 5spd 4wd. Left transfer case attached. Wasn't expecting much, considering the low price, but this jack exceeded ALL of my expectations. Chain & brackets do a good job keeping the load secure. Casters at all corners worked well and allowed for easy positioning. Was worried there would be some flex in the head/saddle once weight was on it, but experienced none. The X/Y tilt screws are easy to adjust and hold properly. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and won't do another clutch/transmission job without one. July 28, 2011

Never Again Never Again will I be without this! I Love it. Fantastic adjustability and versitility, strong and secure, very low profile. I highly recomend it to anyone changing a tranny on the floor. I have also discovered I can use it for other items as well. It is heavy but well worth it. I was even able to trasfer my Firebird's tranny onto my engine stand for working. The ONLY problem I had was my own fault when I removed the security chain and forgot to resecure it before changing my mounting approach. Also worked extrmemly well on my daughter's Toyota Echo. DIY Overall this jack did a great job. Pulled and reinstalled a transmission with tranfer case from a 4Runner. Couple of comments: The supplied chain and adjuster are not adequate for the job, a ratcheting nylon strap solves this problem. The release valve is very sensitive, be careful. The handle on the fore and aft adjuster got in the way while trying to get enough angle for the re-install, a drive nut would be better but, repositioned enough to get it to work. The jack easily handled the weight and provided a very stable base. June 1, 2010

Works Perfect, Great Time Saver It worked perfect. I was able to remove and install 150+ lb transmission and transfer case into my old Jeep. I removed it the first time with just a floor jack and some lumber... what a mess. I'd never do that again now that I've got this jack. May 31, 2010

a complete life saver I bought this jack when my Jeep started having clutch issues. To put it simply, replacing the clutch would have been impossible without this jack. It was easily able to handle the Jeep's transmission and transfercase assembly allowing me to roll them around as needed and the adjustable cradle makes re-aligning the transmission a breeze. What's more is how nice it is to have a real KNOB to release the jack instead of needing a flat head screw driver like most common jacks. I would have given this product 5 stars, but I had a few niggles with it. For one, the jack handle was missing from the box when I opened it, I had to end up using one from one of my old floor jacks. Secondly, the supplied hook used to secure the safety chain is completely inadequate. After my first use, the hook was bent and fatigued beyond all hope. I had to go pick up a larger hook from the local hardware store and use a grinder to widen the slot on the cradle for it. Other than that, it has been an awesome jack to have. May 10, 2010
