Awesome Hole Makers – The envy of all beavers. All the self feeding bits from Milwaukee perform as well as they look. Their aggressive teeth on the diameter of bit in combination with the chisel like auger blade on the inside will devour any 2x4 in a matter of seconds. The self feeding screw in the center of the bit will start the cutting action with out skipping a beat. So plant your feet and hold on. When combining the self feeding bits with a Milwaukee ½” Magnum Hole Shooter you will have a formidable large hole drilling machine. I have used the 2”1/4” dia self feeding bit in my Magnum Hole Shooter to bore through a gang of 2x4 wall studs about 10” thick or wide. The hole was needed to run a PVC drain pipe through a built up column in an exterior wall. I also employed the use of the extension drives for the self feeder bits. One note of caution; Self feeding bits will bury them selves in deep holes, if you do not stop periodically and back them out. This will clean out the chips. I have also used the self feeding bits to drill electrical wire access holes in ceiling joists for a remodeling job. I needed to run power to a couple of 6” recessed lights and the only access I had to the joist cavity in the ceiling was through the recessed lighting can hole. With one hand, I was able to stick my Milwaukee drill and a self feeding bit up through the hole in the drywall ceiling and easily drill a wiring access hole in a joist. The wiring access hole was in a very awkward position to push a drill bit through but, the Milwaukee self feeding bit did all the work once in position. I strongly recommend these self feeding bits over typical screw style augers and spade bits when drilling large holes over 1” dia for rough carpentry. October 30, 2007
