"I was getting tired of adjusting the hinge bolts every year on the main gate. Due to the lay of the land, a simple wheel could not be used on the old swing gate. A pull gate, much like a pocket door, was decided; but I needed the appropriate hardware. After checking with the local lumber yard, hardware store, and long distance fencing supply companies, I turned to Northern.

This "dual gate wheel" assembly from Northern seems fairly well made and goes together easily. I sunk 3 ten foot sections of telephone poles along the gate pathway. On these poles, I mounted a lower and an upper hub/rim from old riding mowers. These act as the upper and lower guides for the new 20 foot sliding gate made from 2 inch steel tubing. The Northern dual gate wheels are the only part of the gate which touches the ground. Grease points on the reclaimed mower hubs keep that part moving smoothly.

Cons: Only one major and one minor gripe.

1. You should be able to simply grease the wheels via zerks; but there are none. My reclaimed riding mower hubs do, however, have grease zerks. It will be only a matter of time before the dust kicked up by the country road and the elements will necessitate replacing the dual hubs with ones including grease zerks.
