Solo Chemical Sprayer - 2.25 Gallon, 45 PSI, Model# 456
Just as ineffective as cheap plastic sprayers
First I am an engineer and have more than average skill with equipment like this.
I have been through 8 or so sprayers the last 10 years and paid the extra money for this one because the cheap models last a few months and then the pump fails or pressure cannot be maintained. At any one time I have 3 sprayers in use, 2 for weeds and most importantly this one is the very mild fly spray used on horses. It gets daily use in the summer.
This sprayer just cannot maintain a seal on the funky lid. If it is screwed down enough to stay tight it almost cannot be removed with out causing a hernia. I tried silicone grease with no improvement then contacted Solo support who said to use petroleum jelly. It still did not help. Solo did send parts right away so I give their support credit.
Now the pump has gone out which I am sure is the o- ring off its seat. I am frankly tired of needing to be a sprayer mechanic to keep this dog running. I switched to the stainless steel, more expensive model and that is working well, so far. Until they fix the lid design, stay from this dog.

I've looked but never found a decent hand-held sprayer. This one: 1) You can't pick it up by the handle you are looking at in this picture....it immediately extends upon the slightest movement of the handle 2) The spray wand doesnot clip into the female recipical shown in the picture and 3) The top at the fill cap is two pieces....not one....so taking it apart to fill it involves aligning both cap parts to affix the necessary seal. Who designs this junk?

Not satisfied with this product. It worked well for about ten uses, then began to not hold pressure. The rubber seal under the cap fails to seal the cap, and no matter what I have tried, it will not seal. I thought this was going to be a premium product versus the cheap units in the big box stores, but as it turns out, the cheap ones lasted significantly longer,

Stick with the cheap box store sprayers
I bought this sprayer and the Solo 430 2Gal last year because I was tired of replacing the cheap Roundup brand sprayers I had been buying. This cost twice as much, and I thought it might last. When I got it out this spring it leaked from every possible place, even sending little jets out between the fins in the handle. I was blaming myself, thinking perhaps I had not cleaned it well enough for storage, so I got out the other model, which had NEVER been used and found it was just as bad. It would cost more to replace the leaking parts than it would to buy one of Roundup's sprayers every year, so there is no advantage to paying the higher price for this one.

I have owned several different brand of sprayers. This is the best sprayer I have ever owned. It pumps up fast and delivers from a mist to a jet stream with one nozzle. My only caution is to be sure the top is screwed on tightly.

Great Sprayer, Tight Lid
I bought this Solo Chemical Sprayer to spray a vegetable oil based concrete form release agent. I like that it has several tips included for different spray patterns. I was worried that it might not handle the thicker oil but it worked great. The only down side was that the lid was sometimes very hard to unscrew.

shipped fast. Sprays great. Puts the old 1 gallon Ortho to shame. Great constant pressure. I can spray my entire driveway in a matter of minutes. Can't wait to tackle some bigger jobs. I used to hate spraying weeds but now I want to get out and spray em all. If only it would stop raining for a few days...

I have several of the Solo 456 sprayers that I use with my carpet cleaning company. It will take alot of abuse and gives little or no problems. If you flush it out regularly, it will last longer and give less problems. I will be buying more of these.

Solo Chemical sprayer - very effective
Easy to handle and gives a very constant pressure to spray.
We are using it to clean evaporators and condenser for transport refrigeration units on site; it also gives enough pressure to clean all types of radiators and general units and equipment.
We are seeing a payback in chemicals and soap using these sprayers because of it's efficiency. Important is to clean throughly after each use.
We bought 2 units to test 4 weeks ago - we are placing an order for 4 additional.
